New Boiler and Now Nest Thermostat Call for Heat Intermittently

Just replaced my boiler  and since the new one (Utica) was installed the Nest looks like its calling for heat (screen turns the orange color) but the heat does not come up.  Also noticed the temperature on the Thermostat does not match the room thermometers...off a few degrees.  Read where folks have similar issues.  Is the Nest not compatible with some/new boilers?

Hi pfeiffeh,

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that your thermostat is not turning on your heat and does not match your room thermometers. Let's see what's going on. A few questions:

  1. Are you located in North America or Europe?
  2. What type of Nest Thermostat do you have?
  3. What type of furnace do you have? (gas, electric, etc.)
  4. When did heating last work?
  5. Did heating ever work with the Nest thermostat? If not, did the heating work with the previous thermostat?
  6. Did you turn off the power to the HVAC system?
    • Did you recently turn off any breakers?
    • Have you recently experienced a brownout or blackout?
    • Is there a light switch near the heater that controls an outlet?
  7. Did you select the correct fuel type?
  8. Do the LED lights blink on the HVAC control board? If yes, locate the light.
  9. When was the last time you changed the furnace's air filter?
  10. Have you experienced extremely cold weather lately?
  11. Is this the first notable temperature drop of the year in the area?
  12. How big is the difference between the readout of the Nest thermostat and your thermometer or other thermostats?
  13. Have you tried any troubleshooting steps? If yes, would you mind listing them?

i'll look forward to your response.

Best,

Zoe
