New House with Existing Nest Gen2 Thermostat

Hi folks, I'm the exact opposite of handy.

I currently bought a place that has a Nest Gen 2. I won't have wifi installed for another month. The owners left it connected to their account.

I referred to this article and it seems like a factory reset is the way to go: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Nest-Thermostats/Removing-old-owner-from-my-thermostat/td-p/5...

Will this reset mean I need to reconnect the thermostat to the furnace or just to my new Nest account?

Thanks!

Hi cdk145,

Thanks for reaching out — I'd love to help.

Resetting your Nest Learning Thermostat to factory default will help you to add it to your own account, and you only need to reconfigure your system during the setup process.

You can check this link for your reference.
