New Nest Blank Screen

Hi Everyone,

I just got a Nest Learning and when I connect it to the base, nothing happens - nothing comes up. I held it down for 10 seconds. That did nothing. I tried charging it off the base and got the G and it said to put it on the base.

Once on the base the screen said "The thermostat is restarting.  Back in a bit." The screen went blank and has not come back up. I've checked the wiring and the base always goes back with a solid click.

I've been messing with this for hours. Any ideas?

Hi @dbcase,

Thanks for posting here in the community! I'm sorry to hear that your Nest Learning thermostat has a blank screen. I'd be happy to help!

To better assist you, I'd like to ask the following:

  • When did the issue first occur?
  • What is the make and model of your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment?
  • How long did you charge the Nest Learning thermostat with the USB cable?
  • Did you get any error messages?

For now, I'd suggest the following:

  • Check if there are any connector pins bent.
  • It's recommended to charge the display with a USB cable for around 1-2 hours.
  • While the thermostat is plugged into a power outlet with the USB cable, check if there's any light showing at the top. Also, perform a hard restart by pressing the display for around 10 seconds and seeing if the Google logo (G logo) appears. If the display turns on and you can access settings, check the power readings in Settings > Technical Info > Power.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
