Newly installed Nest blowing cold air instead of hot

Hi there,

I just installed a brand new Nest Learning thermostat and our system is now blowing cool air when the heat is turned on. I'm also trying to upload images but the Nest support system is not allowing it, so I'm posting the pre and post configuation below.

Hi A_Lew,

Yikes! Let's sort this out. A few questions:

  • Are you located from North America or Europe?
  • Does the thermostat screen indicate that it’s actively calling for heating?
  • What type of furnace do you have? (gas, electric, etc.)
  • Did you turn off the power to the HVAC system?
    • Did you recently turn off any breakers?
    • Have you recently experienced a brownout or blackout?
    • Is there a light switch near the heater that controls an outlet?
  • Did you select the correct fuel type?
  • Do the LED lights blink on the HVAC control board?
  • When was the last time you changed the furnace's air filter?
  • Have you experienced extremely cold weather lately? If yes, is this the first notable temperature drop of the year in the area?
  • Did you connect the C wire from your previous thermostat to the Nest Learning Thermostat base? If so, where did you connect it on the Nest Learning Thermostat base?

Also, try to still attach a photo of your previous thermostat wiring configuration and a photo of your Nest Learning Thermostat wiring configuration by clicking on this link, scrolling down to this reply, then hitting reply. Click the camera icon or the three horizontal lines to expand the toolbar so you can attach the photos.

I'll look forward to your response.

Best,

Zoe

Hi there,

@cec1, I'd like to help. Could you please tell us more about your concern? In what country are you located? What type of Nest Thermostat do you have? Also, please provide your thermostat's power readout.

You can follow the guide below:

Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Thermostat E:

  1. Go to your thermostat Quick View menu.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Look for Technical Info.
  4. Select Power.

Nest Thermostat 2020:

  1. Open the Google Home app and then tap the thermostat and then tap Settings .
  2. Select the Device Information.
  3. Choose Technical Information.

I appreciate the input, Zoe.

Thanks,

Jenelyn
