I got the notification that my Nest thermostat is being sunset today and I'm upset. I asked for the original Nest as a birthday present since I couldn't otherwise justify spending that much money at the time and it's been such a fun, useful, futuristic addition to our home. Then Google bought Nest out from under us. And although I've been a longtime Google fanboy I have revolted ever since. I don't want to use Google Home, ever. I don't want Google to have more sway in my home via IoT devices. Overall, this has been a really upsetting experience since Nest was acquired.
Now I'm told my app will be discontinued. Effing yikes. My Nest was supposed to be a once in a lifetime purchase. So now can I even get an app-driven thermostat that won't be, just, discarded by the seller in 10 years? I can't keep buying these things. This kind of consumerism is disgusting.
This unnecessary discontinuation of my beloved Nest is wasteful, shameful, and it should be illegal.

They won't fool me twice! I'll never buy another Google product. Plenty of other options out there like Ecobee and Honeywell.

Google have just shat on their loyal customers. It stinks.
