Obscure nest setting

Good afternoon all, I believe I have a nest generation 3 learning thermostat ( I know it's a learning thermostat ) when first installed it would show me which stage my two stage heat pump was working in. I no longer can see or tell which stage my equipment is in and I have gone through the programming several times at this point. Is there some way to get the nest to report stage 1 or stage 2? Any help would be appreciated, thank you

Could you share with me a picture showing the actual wire on your thermostat? With this, I can determine the correct wiring configuration.
