PreCheck Issue for Nest Learning Thermostat

I have an Aprilaire 8444 thermostat.  It was reconfigured from battery powered to furnace powered when central air was installed 3 years ago.  I am looking to have a Nest Learning Thermostat installed.  When I checked the C line voltage I only show 15.9volts on my multimeter.  I checked the terminals at the furnace of my American Standard Freedom 90 Gas furnace.  I show the same voltage.  I checked the red / blue alternate terminals on the same Intell-Ignition 50A65-475 and they check out at the same 15.9volts.  So 3 different test points all show the same thing.  Everything is working and has been working since the rewire.  Is this going to cause me an issue or is my meter broken?  It is a southwire 16030A and is fairly new.  I also have a separate transformer that is 24v that is tied to directly to the mains that power the furnance and it also show the same 15.9volts that go to the humidistat.  I can't explain it, but I would like to save on my heating / cooling bills.  Any Ideas / Suggestions?

DO NOT BUY THE NEST! go where you will find support from the company and not a bunch of frustrated consumers! I have the Nest, professionally installed. It works, but the app shows it offline CONSTANTLY! All I have to do is drive 130 miles and restart the thermostat, and presto! around $60 in round trip fuel, and I can get maybe a week where it "works"

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out — I'm sorry for the delay. Google Nest thermostats are designed to work with most 24 V systems. If your wires only have 15-16V it might not be compatible with any Nest Thermostats. Could you please share the photo of the wires connected to your control board?

@garge, I'm sorry for the trouble. Connection interference could cause your thermostat to go offline in the app such as Cordless phones, Bluetooth devices, and baby monitors and other Wi-Fi devices. Were there any instances that your thermostat shows low power? How far away is your thermostat from the router?

Best,

Jenelyn
