Program Nest Thermostat to only turn on from x to x

Hello,

First I'll say that I use all sorts of Google products, multiple cameras, doorbell, home hubs, and speakers. I picked up the thermostat because I'm a fan of Google's products, but to be honest I'm pretty dang disappointed with the lack of a simple feature with this thermostat.

We have Xcel, and try to avoid using as much power as possible during peak times. As such, we only want our AC to run from 7pm to 3am. Period. I don't care if the upstairs gets to be 84° mid-day, but I don't want the AC kicking on for the duration of peak hours and driving my energy bill through the roof.

From what my research is showing, this doesn't appear to be an actual feature, which is astonishing to me that for the hefty price tag, it can't do this simple thing.

Is this feature going to be added any time soon, or should I go ahead and return this for a cheaper programmable thermostat?

Hello Skepti,

I'm sorry for the delay in response, and I'm sorry to hear that your Nest Thermostat activates your AC unexpectedly outside your temperature schedule. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.

Make sure that the Auto-schedule is turned off and the Home and Away Assist is disabled. This way, your thermostat would only follow your schedule unless you manually changed the temperature and held it until the next change. Also, check the Routines in the Google Home app if you have it on your phone. This contributes to any thermostat action enabled in it that triggers your system to randomly activate.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Best,
Mark
