Remove Account

I have moved into a house which has a third generation Nest  Learning Thermostat. I have reset it, connected to the Internet and all seems good, except that the previous owner is still linked to it. It is not practical to contact the previous owner, and the remove account option to is not available in the reset. How can I remove the account so I can add it into my Nest app? Thank you for your time

Hi flossymike,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! It seems like your Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen) is still connected to the previous owner’s account, even after a reset, and the option to remove that account isn't available. I'd be happy to help you get this sorted out so you can connect the thermostat to the Nest app.

To get started, could you confirm if the "reset" you performed was a full factory reset or just a restart? This will help me provide the correct troubleshooting steps.

The procedure for removing a thermostat from an account varies based on its model and software version. For now, please check if your thermostat has the "Account connection" option. You can find this by navigating to your thermostat's Settings and then selecting Reset. If it's there, please complete the reset. Otherwise, let me know, and I'll provide other options.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
