Hi, I have a Nest Thermostat (4th gen, non-learning) and see that heat and cool settings are tied together. I only have comfort and sleep schedules set and if I try to make a change to either schedule (or make a custom one) by say, lowering the cool setting it shifts the heat setting lower at the same time. Example , if I set the cool to 66 on the sleep schedule it automatically drops the heat to 62 in the sleep schedule. I want both cool and heat to be set at 66 when sleeping. If I go to comfort (my daytime schedule ) and raise the heat to 68 it makes my cool go to 71, I don’t want the cool that high but if I lower that cool to what I want of 70 it drops the heat to 67. Whatever one is set to the other shifts so both are always 4 degrees apart. My older Nest had separate settings for cool and heat, any way to have that option with this 4th gen, non-learning?
Thanks, Nancy

Hi @NancyGif,
Thank you for contacting the Google Nest Community. I understand you are experiencing an issue with your Nest Learning Thermostat (4th generation) in which the heat and cool schedules appear to be synchronized. When you attempt to adjust one set point (e.g., cooling) while editing the Sleep Schedule, the other set point (heating) is automatically adjusted simultaneously. I'd be glad to assist you.
Your Google Nest thermostat's temperature schedule can be created or adjusted using the Google Home app or the Nest Thermostat itself. Please check the steps below:
Remove a temperature
Add a new temperature
Please refer to the helpful article below for instructions on adjusting the Temperature schedules for the Nest thermostat.
Please let me know what you find after checking these settings.
Regards,
Gabriela

Hi Gabriela,
I tried to do what you suggested (and read the full link you included) but it did not work. I followed the “add a new temperature” instructions, chose one day (Monday), chose add, selected temperature preset as custom, named it “night”, selected start time of 8:30pm as that is an hour and a half earlier that the sleep schedule, then adjusted the “heat to” to 66 and when adjusted the “cool to” to 66 the “heat to” had dropped to 63.
I tried to edit the preset “sleep” schedule to not include Monday but that didn’t help and actually after removing Monday from that schedule (and hitting save) when I went back into preset sleep, Monday was back to being included as if I never turned Monday off.
Do I need to totally delete one of the preset schedules (comfort and/or sleep) to be able to add a custom schedule? Also, eco is already set, hadn’t noticed that since it wasn’t part of what I was trying to do, do I need to delete that?
Any other suggestions so that I can have the same heat to and cool to temps in a custom schedule?
Thank you,
Nancy

Edit - deleted the Eco schedule since it was active at this time of the day and getting hot in the house. Only have Comfort and Sleep schedules now.
