Setting up a nest thermostat for a customer

Why is it now that you can only set up a nest thermostat if you're on the network The Nest is on. In the past I could send a customer the entry key and they would be able to go into the nest app and add the device to their phone. This seems to have gone away as I spent two hours with a customer trying to get them to enter the entry key and serial number well they're 200 miles away for their vacation home

Sorry for the delayed response but thanks for reaching out. 

 

I'm afraid setting up any of our Nest thermostats require the mobile device being used for the setup to be on the same Wi-Fi network where you're setting it up to. We'll take this as feedback and pass it along to our team as we're open for ways to improve.
