To better understand why your thermostat activates unexpectedly, please provide the information requested below (if you have a Nest Thermostat):
- What is the model of your Nest Thermostat?
- Does the issue happen on heating only, cooling only, or both?
- When did the issue start?
- What other strange symptoms have you experienced since the problem started?
- Are there any error messages? If so, what are they exactly?
- Is this a new installation?
- What kind of HVAC system do you have?
- When was the last maintenance check for your HVAC system?
- Have there been any recent changes or upgrades to your HVAC system?
- Is this the first time you're activating heating or cooling since the season changed? (Example: winter to spring)
- Have you checked the power readouts on the Nest thermostat?
- Do you have a common ground wire or C wire?
- Are you familiar with the C wire?
- Have you experienced any power outages within the last few days or weeks?
In the meantime, I recommend checking if you have set up any schedules that may activate your thermostat at the hour mentioned. You can learn more about schedules by visiting the article Nest thermostat temperature schedules.
In addition, please check the energy history. It'd be useful to check the thermostat’s Energy History for more information about the thermostat's previous-day activity.
