Stuck on this install. Check my wiring, please.

I have moved into a 119-year old building in Dallas. Obviously the equipment isn't that old, but I've used a bunch of Nest 2nd and 3rd Gen previously, and this has me stumped. The old thermostat is a honeywell, switched to heat pump, and has a simple 4-wire config as shown. When I simply swap the wiring for the equivalent on the Nest, the unit kicks on with the fan operating, but the compressor won't work, only the fan. Please give me a clue, how to configure this wiring, and suggestions are greatly appreciated.  (BTW - there is a blue wire that was not hooked up on the previous manual thermostat. )

Hi ChronicLogic,

Thanks for reaching out to us, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation. Let's sort this out.

A few questions: did you verified if fan and heating works when you individually activate them? Are you seeing a power error code on your thermostat? Also, can you help me with your Nest Learning Thermostat's power reading?

  1. To open the Quick View menu, press the thermostat’s ring.
  2. Choose Settings.
  3. Turn the ring to highlight Technical Info then press the ring to select it.
  4. Select Power
    • Battery
    • VOC
    • VIN
    • IIN

I'll look forward to your response.

Best,

Zoe
