We use the Nest Learning Thermostat in our AirBnb. We setup the Lock feature to limit the temperature range so people don't go crazy and damage the unit. However, some guests on a nice day want to just turn the system off or change mode.
My suggestion would be to add more flexibility to the Lock feature.
- Set Temp Range per mode (different range for cooling and heating)
- Allow (toggle setting) for system power on/off (on a nice day, they should be able to turn off the system)
- Allow (toggle setting) for changing mode from cooling to heating (sometimes the weather is crazy enough they need this)
- Allow (toggle setting) them to lock a temp if they adjust within the range to override auto-schedule (some people just like a set temp all the time).
