New set up with a single stage fan motor heat pump system. The system is turning the heat on instead of AC per a technician that came out. Has to be the settings. I've switched the O and B setting within the app with no luck. I've tested healing to see if it's cooling, but still heat. I've turned off all eco settings with no cooling results.

I am having the same issue with my new set up for the Nest Thermostat. I live in Arizona so this is ridiculous! The temp is 84 in the house! I got this thermostat through my utility company and so far I am not impressed. I can't tell if the heat setting is giving me cooler temps than I was getting with the cool setting. I've reset the system and checked the wires. Still getting heat.😩

Hi folks,
Thanks for posting in the community. I understand that when you turn on the cooling on your Nest Thermostat, it starts heating, especially when you're expecting it to maintain a comfortable temperature. I know how concerning this situation must be, as an HVAC technician has already inspected your HVAC system and the issue persists. I appreciate your troubleshooting efforts and the information shared. No worries, let's work together to get it resolved. To better assist you, I have a few questions:
Please let me know the answer to these questions.
Cheers,
Jonathan

I figured it out with ChatGPT. Turns out my Lennox system does not take the Google nest because I need a sixth wire and I only have five so I am switching to a different thermostat. thanks for responding

Hi. I have the same issue with our Nest thermostat. When we bought the house last year the AC still works ( we turn it on manually from the thermostat). When we reset the thermostat to factory reset and added to Google Home app That’s when we encountered the issue. When setting to heat mode it blows cold air and when set to cooling mode the air is blowing hot air. We did not change anything on the wiring. We just change the settings for orientation of our heat pump from “B” to “O” on the Google home app per the instructions on the manual.. But the issue still not fixed. I tried to put it back to the old settings which was “B”. After that I run the diagnostic test on the thermostat and the issue has been resolved.

Turns out I have a heat pump and I need the sixth wire which my system doesn’t have and so I’m gonna just return the Google nest and get a different smart thermostat. Thanks for responding though.
