Hi @NewNest2024,
Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear you're getting a delay and your Nest thermostat estimates will reach 74 degrees in 2 hours. I'm happy to help!
To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:
- What is the model of your Nest thermostat? Here’s a helpful article about how to identify your thermostat model.
- When was the last time you changed the furnace's air filter?
- Have you experienced extremely cold weather lately?
- Does the inconvenience happen on heating only, cooling only, or both?
- When was the last maintenance and cleaning service performed on your HVAC system?
- Would you mind sharing a picture of your wiring installation of the affected thermostat?
In the meantime, let's check a few things:
- Check the Energy History to see if some features are causing the unusual thermostat activation. Refer to this article: Thermostat Energy History.
- Verify if the thermostat screen turns orange when you want heating (or blue for cooling) but the HVAC system doesn't turn on.
- Ensure the wires are fully inserted into the terminal and the connector buttons are securely pushed down. This guarantees proper wire connections. You can check out this article for more information: Troubleshoot strange heating or cooling behavior. Important: Before touching any wires, turn off the power to your HVAC system at the breaker box.
Please keep me posted.
Best regards,
Melany
