Thermostat giving wrong temperature

Daveion2023

My issue in bullet points:

  • Nest app said thermostat was offline
  • Thermostat light was blinking orange
  • Charged thermostat base via wall outlet
  • Thermostat light blinked green and asked me to reconnect base
  • Now the thermostat shows wrong temperatures and incorrect time estimates to heat the home to desired temperature. For e.g, It said the internal temperature was 68 degrees (it was about 73). Then I told it to heat the home to 75 degrees but then it said it was 78 degrees inside once it reached 75 degrees.

I've had issues with W1 wire warnings for a while but I'd always jiggle the wire and everything would work fine for months. Now it's giving issues within weeks.

Post pics of the wires on the base.

And describe the type of system you have. Gas heat. Heat pump, boiler with radiators, AC etc.

Hi folks,

@Houptee, thanks for the help!

@Daveion2023, thanks for reaching out. I'd love to know more about this. Could you also check the power readings of your Nest Thermostat? You can find this information by going to Settings > Technical Info > Power.

Thanks,

Edward
