Thermostat isn’t turning on the AC

  • I installed the thermostat in December and the heating has worked great. Now that it’s warming up I tried using the AC, and realized it was not blowing cold air anywhere, in fact it was warm. I am sure I just have a wiring issue and don’t know how to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I don’t see a way to attach pictures here, but I also left a post on the “android help” page that does have pictures.. I don’t realize it was just for androids until after I posted it haha. Sorry!

Hi TeeWalz,

Thank you for posting in the community. I’m sorry that your Nest Learning Thermostat 4th Gen isn’t blowing cold air, only warm temperatures. I understand how frustrating this can be. I’m here to help.

For further assistance, please answer the following questions:

  • What troubleshooting steps have you tried already?
  • If newly installed:
  • Have you tried using the compatibility checker tool?
  • What type of HVAC system do you have?

Important: Please attach a picture of the existing wiring configuration; here is a picture of the icon to submit it after you create a new post:

Please keep me posted. I'll look forward to your response.

I have only tried turning it off and on as far as troubleshooting goes. The app is not saying anything is wrong, so it hasn't been able to help much. I thought about factory resetting it and going through the install steps, but I did not end up doing that. I believe we have forced air system. We installed it about 3 months ago, and I just did the compatibility checker and it looks like we are good to go.

This is super weird, the example you show of where to click to upload an image is not the same as mine. I have everything else in my tool bar except the camera icon, and there is no other way to upload a picture. I put some pictures into a google doc though, and will share the link here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/10PziMxDmPPTomvLvZDC3Z3kzwxsiW4tGp7a9FaGnQcY/edit?usp=sharing

Let me know if that link gives you any trouble!

Hi TeeWalz,

Thank you for your response. I appreciate the detailed information and the pictures attached. Help's here.

Please try to do a factory reset first. Do the following steps:

  1. On the thermostat’s display, go to Settings, then Factory Reset, and then Reset.

  2. In the Google Home app, on the Nest Thermostat controller, go to Settings, then Remove device.

  3. Your Nest Thermostat screen will show “No Wi-Fi.”

  4. Press the display and enter the setup code from the alert.

  5. Add a new device in your Google Home app and scan the QR code displayed on your Nest thermostat.

Let me know how it goes and keep me posted.

Regards,

Byron

Hello!

I was able to factory reset everything and get it added again. Unfortunately I am still facing the same problem.  Is there something else I can try?
