I upgraded from 1rst Gen to Nest E so that I could add our peak rate plan to the app. When I go into renew it only lists the big companies here in MA. Many towns in MA have their own municipal power company which in our case is years ahead of the big power companies in every way. None of these are on the list. The app won't let me turn on peak pricing unless I select a rate plan and I can't fake it because I have no idea what the big company rate plans are (there are 6-7 plans for "Eversource" which is the closed provider on the list).
Did I waste my money?

Apparently this isn't get answered. Let me ask it a different way. Can you set Renew rate sittings for electricity providers not on the list? In our state (MA) there are quite a few providers not on the list. It only contains the large corporate provider.
Is there a way to manually create a rate profile?

Hi JohnEllenberger,
Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand you upgraded from Nest Thermostat 1st Gen to Nest Thermostat E, and you could add your peak rate plan to the app, but when you go into the renew, it only lists certain companies in your current location. I understand how frustrating it might be that your local provider isn't listed as an option within the Nest app.
The Nest app only supports the rate plans listed, which primarily consist of larger, widely supported energy providers. This means that the options displayed within the app are the only available for rate plan integration at this moment.
We would appreciate it if you could share your thoughts through our feedback form to improve our services for you.
Best regards,
Juan

My thought is that I wasted my money buying an upgraded thermostat, which because of Google's usual complete lack of support, can't be used in my town. Our state has dozens of providers and you only support one. The big expensive, poor service provider. A complete piece of software would at least have the provision to manually add rate plans. I rate this product 2 on a scale of 1-10.
