Thermostat won't do anything

Installed nest and wired it the same as old thermostat, g>g y>y1 w>w1 and r>rh. The nest turns on when plugging attaching it to base. But it won't turn on the heater, ac, or the fan.

Reattached the old thermostat and it works fine.

Plz help, try to get it hooked up for my mom.

@Smartwick

Can you post a picture of the original thermostat wiring?

Is there a C wire installed?

Sometimes people do not fully insert the wires into the baseplate.  Also, make sure you turned the power off before installing the wires.

Hello everyone,

Thanks for looking into this, @Patrick_Caezza and @CoolingWizard.

@Smartwick, incorrect wiring configuration may result in not activating your system. We would appreciate it if you could share with us your old thermostat's wiring so we can move forward. We'll look forward to your response.

So everything works as it should in normal operating mode,  but nothing would work in the test mode.

Hi Smartwick ,

Got it. That's good to hear! It appears to be in the thermostat Equipment settings only. With this, please let our product team know about it by sending feedback. Try pressing and holding your thermostat screen for 10 seconds until it shuts down to refresh.

Also, I wanted to ensure that everything was covered here. Let us know if you have any other questions or concerns before we lock this thread in 24 hours.

Regards,
Mark
