Turn heat off at night

BobertR

Hi,

We've just got the Nest Thermostat E.

The install was smooth but I find the manual scheduling lacking. We live in a mobile home which is poorly insulated. The way that we were setting our heating was to turn off over night, and the nights would be very cold during the winter. The minimum temperature that you can set over night is 9C on the Thermostat E, and I think that this will cause the heating to come on at night when we don't want it. I don't think this system is suited to our particular case. It is coming into summer now so it won't be as cold during the nights, therefore I won't be able to tell the impact that this might have on the heating costs (it might be calling the heat all night).

A setting to schedule the heat to be fully off would be great. I'm disappointed that it is not an option. I don't want to have to manually set eco mode each night.

Does anyone have any suggestions for this, or is the system just not suited to our situation.

Thanks

Hi BobertR,

Thank you for reaching out and we're sorry for the delay.

Every system has its different ways on how to set and reach your desired temperature. The same way with the thermostat. It may be the same case even if it is not a Google Nest Thermostat. I suggest setting up a temperature schedule and connecting your thermostat to your Wi-Fi so that it can automatically adjust the temperature according to your liking and settings and to check for weather updates and temperature status in your area.

I hope it helps.

Best regards,

Ryan

Hey BobertR,

Thanks for your reply.

To protect your home during extremely cold or hot weather, your Nest thermostat is using its Safety Temperature

You can disable a Safety Temperature by turning the dial to off when choosing a temperature, but we don't recommend this since setting a Safety Temperature helps protect your home.

I hope it helps,

Ryan
