Unable to add fourth 3rd Generation thermostat to our Nest App

Alber
Community Member

We have 4 zones on our gas furnace and have had no problems.  For years we have used three Nest thermostats all 3rd generation and all worked well.  Decided to add the fourth nest thermostat and did it with success, however it won’t allow me to add it to the nest App or Google home App.  The WiFi is correct as I have reinstalled it several times.  All the other thermostats are working flawlessly.

I have even installed a 24 volt transformer to insure the power is adequate, but to no avail.  Have also reset factory default and reinstalled.  No luck.  Any suggestions?  Thank you in advance!

Hi Alber,

Thanks  for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us — I'd love to know more about it. Do you see any messages or code on the device when you're trying to add it to your account? Does the fourth thermostat you installed is a Nest Learning Thermostat as well? If yes, stick using the Nest app to add  it.

Also, you can visit this link for more information.

I'll look forward to your response.

Thanks for your reply Jenelyn.  Yes it is a nest Learning Thermostat.  The only message is something went wrong.  Then an option for try again.  Which never works.  The internet is connected and everything works manually.  I’ve done factory resets several times and reinstalled, and when it comes to adding it to the Nest app, it just radiates like it’s trying but always fails.   I even tried to do it on other rooms, and it does the same thing.

Hey Alber,

Thanks  for the update. Could you please make sure you have the latest version of the Nest app? Also, try to move your thermostat closer to your router while it's trying to connect to the app.

Let me know how it goes.

Jenelyn

Yes Jenelyn, I’m still unable to get the thermostat to synch up to the nest app with the other three thermostats.

Hey Alber,

Thanks for the update — I'm sorry if the issue persists. I just want to confirm, Is the other room you mentioned is a different home structure on the Nest app? Check as well if all the devices are connected to the same bandwidth. Also, could you please try to use a different phone to add your Nest Learning Thermostat to the app? It will help us to isolate it further.

Best,

Jenelyn

Still no success Jenelyn.  We’ve even had our son who is computer savvy try to help to no avail.  All other thermostats are connected and working well on the same internet.  Keeps saying “something went wrong” when try to load the nest app with QR or code.  We’ve cleared the thermostat and restarted several times.  Everything works but won’t load the app
