Upgrading from 3rd Gen to 4th Gen thermostat

Hi there,

So after experiencing weird offline and incorrect readings from the Gen 3s I’m wanting to upgrade to the new 8/24 4th generation thermostat.

After trusting the older Nest thermostats for a decade I discovered high incorrect humidity readings on both thermostats and other issues thanks to use of hygrometers placed around the house and next to thermostats when my units suddenly wouldn’t ever shut off on “cool to dry”.

Will the new Gen 4 learning thermostat with sensors do a better job of accurately detecting actual temps and humidity levels? (Yes, our wires and access holes are insulated.)  If not I won’t bother wasting money on this shiny new wall bauble. Also, will the Gen 4 fit into the previous version’s backplates? I purchased some nice metal ones that match the bezel. I hate those plastic ones in the box.
