Wiring compatibility

Hello,

I only have 2 wires connected to my current thermostat that controls my gas furnace.

A green wire connected to Rh

A white wire connected to W

In addition, Rh and Rc terminals are connected to one an other with a wire.

is Is my system compatible with any of the nest thermostats?

 Thanks in advance !

Your thermostat is compatible with any of the Nest thermostats. Look and see if there is an extra/spare wire in the thermostat cable that you can use to create a C wire.

If the isn't an extra/spare wire, then

To use the Google Nest Thermostat (mirrored) you will need to use the Google Nest Power Connector and possibly an external 24Vac transformer.

The Nest 3rd Gen Learning and the Nest Thermostat E will work without a C wire, but I always suggest installing one to ensure there are no power problems down the road. THe Google Nest Power Connect will be needed if you choose to creat a C wire.

Thanks for the response! I did further research and my furnace is a PG80ESA, not sure if that helps. I checked and did not see an extra wire in the thermostat to create a C wire. The thermostat is quite far away from the furnace so bringing an extra wire would be quite cumbersome.

What do you mean by “mirrored” in your response?

Am I correct in understanding that the Nest 3rd gen learning thermostat should work with my set up?

Appreciate the help!

What I mean by "mirrored" is the newest Google Nest Thermostat has a mirrored surface to it.

Yes, the Nest 3rd Gen Learning Thermostat will work with your setup. but I strongly suggest that you also install the Google Nest Power Connector to ensure there are no power issues down the road.
