Wiring help (no wires)

Wolffangigo
Community Member

Greetings. Recently moved and the new place has a he firnace installed 2 years ago. When the new furnace was installed, they installed a wireless thermostat, and rather than simply using the existing wires any way, never botgered to hook things up. This meens i have now power or control to upstairs. This leads me to the following questions.

1. is the nest even compatable with this system? (See attached image)

2. I can easily replace the wires and extend to the box.... just a matter of what goes where? (Do i need only power? or do i need a control wire as well... if just power i assume i can use 1 of the open slots up top?.... if control as well what slot would that use)

Hi Wolffangigo,

Thanks for posting here in the Community forum and for showing interest in our Nest Thermostats.

Are you located in North America or Europe? If your current thermostat is wireless, you can't install any Nest Thermostat as it needs to have thermostat wires connected to its base. However, if you really want a Nest Thermostat to replace your existing thermostat, I highly recommend you contact a Nest Pro installer for the Nest Thermostat be wired properly. Learn more about Nest Thermostat Compatibility for more.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Best,

Zoe
