I have "regular" Nest Thermostat (not E, not learning) and would like to add an additional sensor just to monitor (remotely) another room (basement) in the house. It appears that the Google sensors only work with E, 3rd gen and 4th gen learning thermostats, but before I abandoned this idea and just go with a separate WiFi temp sensor I thought I would try and ask an "expert".

Hi DSHOOTS,
Thank you so much for posting in this community. I understand that you have a Nest Thermostat and would like to add a Nest Temperature Sensor to remotely monitor another room in your home. It's a pleasure to assist you in sharing more information about the compatibility.
Regarding your concern, the Nest Temperature Sensor is only compatible with the Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd and 4th gen) and the Nest Thermostat E. To review more details, refer to this article: Learn about the Nest Temperature Sensor.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Best regards,
Daniel
