deleting the nest factory cooling eco temp setting

BigJim
Community Member

is there a way to cancel the factory pre-programed eco temp range. Even with setting up my own schedule, my nest always kicks the cool ac temp up to 76 during the day and then takes for ever to cool the house back down. I did create my "own Custom" eco temp and it is in my schedule, but it still kicks out to 76 when we are not home. I have tried to turn off the presence setting, but that did not help and I am tired of coming home to a hot house when it's 97 degrees outside and 75% humidity here in the Midwest! Help please

I am having the same issues. It’s ridiculous. I have schedules set and it still does this.

Hi folks,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience as well as for the delayed response. I know how you feel about this. Let's get this sorted — a few questions:

  1. What type of Nest thermostat do you have?
  2. When did cooling last work?

Give these steps a try:

In the Google Home app.

  1. On the home screen, select the thermostat you want to manage.
  2. Tap Temperature mode.
  3. Choose the preferred mode.

In the Nest app.

  1. On the home screen, select the thermostat you want to manage.
  2. Tap Mode.
  3. Choose the preferred mode.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

JT

Yes this is still an issue, my question is, how do I delete a factory loaded Temperature Presets "the ECO settling"??
When I am not home, my Nest always goes to this pre-set eco temp of 76 degrees and then my house is too hot and takes forever to cool down..... even if that setting is not part of my actual schedule. I would send you screen shots but it will not allow me too

Hey BigJim,

I'm sorry for the confusion. Here's how you can edit or delete the preset schedule:

  1. Open the Home app.
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Select Temperature preferences.
  5. Choose Temperature presets.
  6. Select an existing preset to change or delete it, or tap Add  to create a custom preset.

For more info about temperature schedules for the Nest Thermostat, please visit this support website article.

Thanks for the help here, janthadeus.

Best,

Jennifer

  1. Tap Settings > Schedules.
  2. On the upper-right corner of the app, tap the three dots icon.
  3. Select Clear <day> schedule. To delete the schedule for the entire week, tap Clear weekly schedule.

Yes this is still an issue, please read the entire thread, some have tried to help without understanding the actual issue. There is not a way to delete the factory preset "eco temp". I'm not that technically challenged. Nothing g previously noted has worked. I can not add screen shots which might help. But there is no way I have found to delete that temp range. Even if it is not part of your daily thermostat program, it still defaults to that temp range when not home. I have even played with the "sensing settings" with no luck. Very frustrated.

Hi BigJim,

Thanks for the response. Just to clarify, are you trying to stop your Nest Thermostat from going to Eco mode when it detects no one's home? You mentioned the sensing settings. What settings have you changed and what are the results?

Thanks,

Edward

NO what I am trying to do is delete the factory setting called ECO with temps set at 55 for heat and 76 for AC. When we are not home, my nest automatically goes the this ECO setting even though it is not part of my daily schedules. And to date no one has been able to help me delete this setting, nothing they have suggested has worked. I have all my presence sening turned off. I have model - Thermostat-1.4, software version 1.1-11
