Trying to disable the nest -- until I can go and buy a new one to get installed and it has taken over !!!!! It will only address an E1-3 error with a wire issue... just want it shut down

Help is here! thanks for reaching out, to turn off your thermostat you can follow these steps.

1. Open the Nest app on your mobile device.

2. Tap the thermostat you want to turn off.

3. Tap the mode icon.

4. Tap off in the menu that appears.

Following these steps should turn off your thermostat. If you need to turn off your thermostat definitely the only way is to remove the thermostat from the base.
