"Choose the number that matches your thermostat's display"

I am trying to set up my thermostat (already installed) at my vacation home. I have progressed through the setup of the NEST app. Here is the step that is prohibiting me from completing it. I have entered the KEY listed on the thermostat. However, the next screen on the app states this message "Choose the number that matches your thermostat's display" however there is nothing to put, enter or progress further. Please help as I am 2500 miles away from house the thermostat is in.

Any nest/

google pros input on this? I have not seen any valid responses for this when posted on other threads. Can we all get an answer?

To clarify, are you trying to set up your thermostat remotely? Adding the Nest Thermostats remotely is not available, as you need to be physically with the devices to configure them. The message you're seeing in the Nest app is referring to the number that would appear on your thermostat's screen.

I do have the number that is showing up on the thermostat. My property manager provided it to me. When I put it in, it gives me that message with no options after that. I set up my other property remotely by doing the same thing so I don’t know why this one won’t!

Hi there,

 

I understand. But setting up Nest Thermostats should be near the device used for the setup, as they need to be next to each other so they can communicate until it asks you to choose your preferred Wi-Fi network, which allows you to control it remotely once the setup is complete. With this, you can ask your property manager to add it for you in the Nest app using the email account for your Nest on his or her phone. So once the setup is complete, it'll show up on your Nest app.
