I inserted a pin into the hole at the bottom of the Nest Thermostat thinking I needed to do this — like with the Nest Hello — to remove the thermostat device from the wall to change the batteries.
The device will not power on. I’ve tried removing the batteries, waiting several minutes and reinserting them, but I have had no luck getting the device to power back on.
when trying to manually add the device back to my home, it cannot be found.
Anyone else experience a similar issue and have any idea on how to resolve?

If you inserted a metal object into that hole, there is a good chance you damaged the thermostat, which wouldn't be covered under warranty.
