I intend to use the nest learning thermostat(gen 1.) only as a thermo/hygrometer.
I want to use the device using only power.
The initial setup is not completed when only the power is connected. Is there a way to solve this problem?

Hello mariachi,
Thanks for posting here in the Community. There should be two wires connected on the Nest thermostat base with at least 16 to 24 volts. Just connect the two wires on W1 and Rc/RH as a fake heating system coming from a 24 VAC power adapter. Once it recognizes the wires on the W1 and RH, you can just use that as a standalone thermometer or hygrometer.
Let me know if you have additional questions.

Edmond
