We have five mesh nest points in the house. We have devices that only connect via 2.4 GHz. However getting them onto the Google Wi-Fi mesh network is nearly impossible and once they are onboarded, their connection is dropped regularly. Items such as baby cams, air purifiers, smart appliances, etc. I have read all the forum articles remotely related to this and I’ve come to the conclusion that ripping out all of the Google Wifi mesh from the house is going to be the best solution. I have called the manufacturers of all these devices and the help they offer once they realize it’s a Google mesh network is absolutely useless. Why is it so unbelievably difficult to keep the 2.4 GHz items connected?!?! And why is the advice always to get other items that run on 5 GHz instead? Google needs to address this!

Hey, GglNestSucks.
Sorry for the late response here, but I wanted to check in to see if you were still having this issue and to see if you have done any troubleshooting so far on your network. If you still need help, let me know and I'll be happy to work on this with you.
Thanks.

Absolutely still having this issue. Google nest constantly drops 2.4ghz devices and I’ve followed every suggestion including, ridiculously, walking so far away from my house it is forced to connect to 2.4ghz but as soon as I get close to nest again it drops. We cannot connect baby cams or hepa filtration devices as their apps won’t work from constantly being dropped. Even have this issue with Ring

So you're getting the devices to connect initially, but having issues keeping them connected? Usually we see users struggle to get that initial connection, not keeping them connected. Do the devices drop one by one, or do they seem to all drop off at once?

Oh I struggle getting them connected and then they drop immediately

Hi, GglNestSucks.
I just wanted to check in real fast to see if you saw my reply and to see if you had that additional info.
Thanks.

I struggle getting them connected definitely, but then they also drop immediately

Ok, thanks for clarifying that for me. I'm going to talk with an internal team and see what sort of guidance I can get here.

Hey, GglNestSucks.
As an update for you, I wanted to let you know that we have a firmware update coming out now. Some people may have already received the update, but most will see it coming still. Everyone will have it before the end of April. If you receive that update and don't see an improvement in your issues here, please let me know and we can keep looking into things.
Thanks.

Hey, all.
Just to add to the info a bit, the update version for both Google WiFi and Nest WiFi will be 14150.43.80. If you are seeing a different version number when you check in Google Home, you have yet to receive the updated firmware. Let me know if you have any questions about that.
Thanks.

So much for a $2K Nordictrack working on 2.4Ghz that the Nest cannot control

Hi, GglNestSucks.
I just wanted to check in to see if you received that update and noticed any changes at all. If you're still waiting, it should be arriving soon.
Thanks.

I have no idea if it updated or not, where is that in the Google home app? There seems to be a software version indicated but I have no idea if that is updated or not

Hi, GglNestSucks.
I'm just checking in to see if you were still looking for input on this. If you're still having issues and still need some help, please let me know.
Thanks.

Yes, same problems continue and companies tell me google mesh is the problem

I have a Nordictrack device that can only work on 2.4ghz. How can I force that on a mesh nest network? I have two nest points and a nest router

I'm also having trouble getting 2.4 Ghz devices to connect to the mesh wifi network. The responses I've seen this far in this forum try to imply that 2.4 Ghz means that the designers of the devices are using old tech or I should purchase a second piece of hardware to only serve a 2.4 Ghz network. As though the human deeds of dollars I spent on Google Wifi and On Hub devices wasn't enough. It's quite ridiculous that a device this expensive cannot be temporarily put into a compatibility mode to allow for initial network acquisition.
If there is a way to set the network to 2.4 Ghz and I have missed it in my searching these forums then I would appreciate a link or description on how to get that set up with my thanks.
