Plenty of complaints about this so c'mon get this fundamental function working, please! I cannot for the life of me get my Laptop to connect to the 6ghz band. Hell, it's showing that it's operating on the WiFi-4 protocol (802.11n) but in the Google nest Pro devices page it IS showing my laptop as a WiFi 6 device, IPV6 and MAC address, however, it is listed in "offline devices" with no way to connect. So frustrating.

Hello @chaybee
Rather confusingly, WiFi 6 and WiFi 6E aren't the same thing. WiFi 6 is a newer version of the standard that allows higher speeds and other features on the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. WiFi 6E is all of that, but on the 6GHz band. Are you sure your laptop support WiFi 6E and not just WiFi 6? If it does support WiFi 6E, then you might need to ensure the Nest WiFi Pro system has WPA3 enabled. This is the latest authentication scheme and is required for WiFi 6E (6GHz) but optional for 2.4GHz and 5GHz clients. In a system that supports all three bands, some 6GHz-capable devices run into trouble switching between WPA2 on the lower bands and the required WPA3 on the 6GHz band. I hope this helps!

Hi MichaelP,
Yes, I'm positive my device supports WiFi 6 as it was running on that protocol on my Amplifi Alien which I have since hooked back up, boxed up the Wifi Pro and shipping it back, unfortunately. I tried WPA3 on and off, didn't make a difference. This is a problem I have read numerous, professional reviewers have encountered. I wish it worked but I can't justify keeping something that limits my 1gb speeds to barely 200/200 on a device that gives me 650/700 on my Alien.

Sorry, I see you asked about wifi 6E, no my device does not support that, however, my post was regarding Wifi 6, not 6E.

The new Nest Pro routers are configured for 6e not 6, that's why he was asking.

II find that really hard to believe and if that's the case than it's the dumbest product ever. Regardless, I've shipped it back.

Hi chaybee,
I'm sorry to see that you returned your WiFi device, but I understand if you need a different solution to match your requirements. I did want to check in and see if there was anything else I could do for you here.
Thanks,
Jeff
