I am trying to cast to Apple TV devices from my iphone and ipad. The devices are connected to a google wifi network. The devices can see one another, but casting is blocked. I have searched for possible causes (yes, I googled!) and among the possibles listed is that Google Wifi can block casting.
Does anyone know how to correct this? I just want to cast Peloton Workouts to my big screen. Help!

When you say casting do you mean casting like with a Chromecast? Apple TV doesn't have Google Cast, it has Airplay. While the protocols have some similarities, they are also very different.
Anyway, I'm assuming what you mean is Airplay, in that case Airplay works out of the box with Google Wifi, I have several Airplay devices and I didn't have to change any setting. AirPlay doesn't use UPnP as far as I know for discovery, I think it uses Zeroconf. While the protocols are different, they work in a similar manner. So maybe try enabling UPnP support. This is on the Home app under wifi, press on the gear icon, then advanced networking.

Thank you for that response. I do mean airplay. I use the word "cast" generically.
My frustration is that there is no clear cause to the problem. My iOS devices (both my phone and ipad) are up to date on versions, and both can communicate to the TV - the connection is acknowledged. The problem comes specifically when I try to play a Peloton workout video. Upon invoking Airplay, the TV screen will change from whatever programming it is playing first to the spinning/clock indicator that it is connecting to airplay, but then will switch to a screen telling me to select the TV from my iOS device, which has already occured. The video does not play.
I have even tried connecting my Apple TV external device to an available HDMI port and connecting to that rather than the TV's embedded Airplay. Much the same thing happens - the external Apple TV and my device connect, but when I try starting a video a small red circle with a slash through it appears next to what should be the play/pause button, and the video cannot begin.
I have contact Peloton and they cannot find any problem at their end. Strange.

The things I mentioned before were about discovery but that part seems to be working fine. What you are describing could be anything from an app or airplay problem to a networking issue. I would guess it is more likely to be an app or airplay issue.

Hey jcrstjohn,
As InstantBits said, this look like it's most likely a problem at the app level or with Airplay. One thing to check when casting is failing is to the app permissions you have in your app settings for any and all apps involved in casting. Sometimes an app might update or permissions might need to be reviewed. If you check the permissions on your apps and that all looks good, let me know and we can look into other steps.
Thanks,
Jeff
