Google Nest WiFi factory reset - No pulsing white light, only solid white light

AndyAnucha

I have done a factory reset on the Google Nest Wifi Router. Router goes through the normal resetting process then goes to a solid white light instead of the pulsing white light. I have previously done a Factory reset about a month ago and did not have any issues then. The current situation is that all Google Nest Wifi data has been successfully removed from the Google Home app, and the two Google Nest WiFi access points are showing up for set up but the Google Nest WiFi router is not showing up and is staying in the solid white light state.

Again, as mentioned before, I have done a factory reset before and had no issues about a month or so ago.

Additional Info (Just in case it matters)

- I am using Cat8 Cable (And not the cable provided in the set, which i assume was a Cat5 or Cat6 cable)

- I am using unmanaged Network Switch (100/1000/2500mbps) to provide more Lan connections

Thanks in advance for your advice and help.

also - on a few occasions when I'm trying to factory reset. It comes back to the solid white light, it will momentarily go off then replaces by a red light that appears for just a moment before going back to a solid white light state.

Hey AndyAnucha,

Thanks for posting — let's see what's going on.

A few questions: when you do a factory data reset on your Nest Wifi router, do you remove the Ethernet cable connecting your main Nest Wifi router and your modem? How do you normally do a manual factory data reset? If you could guide us on how you do it step-by-step, that would be great.

We'll wait for your update.

Best,
Abi

Hi AbigailF,

I first tried with the Ethernet cable still connected several times. And I have also tried with the cable out. Manual reset - hit the button on the bottom of the router for 8-10 secs. (Until yellow light stops blinking).

Thanks for reaching out. Hope this helps. Currently in the same situation. White light is still solid but the Nest Wifi has been removed from Google home and still unable to re-install/create nest network.

Hi AndyAnucha,

Thanks for the update. Try to follow these steps and let us know how it goes:

  1. On the bottom of the router, locate a circle etched into the device, then press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds. The light will pulse yellow, then turn solid yellow. When the light is solid yellow, release the button. The light will turn solid white for about 5 seconds, then turn solid yellow.
  2. The reset process starts once the light turns solid yellow. It can take up to 10 minutes for the router to complete the reset, so don't unplug the power cord during this process.
  3. When the factory reset is complete, the light on the router turns a faint solid white light. After a few seconds, it should pulse white.
  4. Once the Nest Wifi router pulses white, it's ready for setup.

Abi

Hi again AbigailF,

Thanks again for reaching out. I've tried resetting as you directed again. It goes through the process you described except that at the end the white light does not pulse. it still stays solid.
