Hello,
There is a similar closed post on this topic however I though to open a new one as I am having similar issues with a device that disconnects from wifi when the nest wifi point changes channel. In this case this is a fronius inverter that disconnects from the wifi every other day. I have a router and 3 points, with one point being very close to the inverter. The mesh test returns "Great connection" and my internet connection is "blazingly fast". Otherwise I have no other problems with the nest wifi setup, streaming works very well up to 4K as do all the other devices connected to the network.
Would it be possible for Google to provide an option to fix the channel in an advanced option of the app?
Regards,
Adrian

I'm having a similar issue. I'm in a crowded apartment area and I am having a lot of issues with connectivity to my Sonos system and other devices in my home. Is there any way we can get access in our network settings to select the channel we want? This is particularly frustrating as a user in an apartment complex.

Hi, everyone.
Sorry for the issues you're having with your connections. I imagine that's been frustrating. Currently there's no way to manually manage the different bands on the WiFi points and router as they are all handled automatically by the mesh network. While I can see a use case for being able to manage that, it's not currently supported. What I can do is pass this feedback along to our internal teams so they can be aware of it being a feature that our community would be interested in seeing added to the device.
netuser51, would you mind telling me a bit more about your setup? Do you have a router and additional points? If so, how many points are you running? We might be able to troubleshoot your setup a bit more to account for interference.
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, Jeff. Sure thing! I have a router and 1 additional point. Sonos Beam is in the same room as the point, but they're across the room from one another. Does this help?

Yes, thanks for the added info, nestuser51. I'll take that into account as I look into possible causes and troubleshooting steps. The placement actually sounds ideal for the setup, so I don't think that's an issue to be concerned with.
Thanks.

Any update on a fix for this?
02-07-2022 09:33 AM
Hey, nestuser51.
As of right now, I'm still waiting for answers. I'll keep an eye on the thread in the meantime and I'll update as soon as I have news.
Thanks.

I have recently installed a Nest with 2 extra points. I'm having the same issue with daily disconnects from the inverter.
Never had 1 drop out the previous 3 years with the old telstra router.

Sorry to hear you're seeing the issue too, Boondi. I am sure that's frustrating.
I'll keep looking for a fix on this. Feel free to update here if anything changes.

I cannot believe that this has been an issue in multiple threads with "Jeff" passing feedback up the information chain for this long and there still isn't a resolution! I'm having a wireless HDMI transmitter and receiver drop constantly...like all day every day...due to the channel selection on my Google Mesh Wifi system. I keep checking back for answers and all I see are people like me, patiently waiting for something, anything to move us in a positive direction. This seems like there is an unwillingness to allow the end user access to certain functionality. Otherwise, wouldn't it be implemented already?

Hey, all.
I have some news for you. We have a new firmware rollout that has started. The update will hit your WiFi devices automatically and it aims to fix quite a few different issues. If you receive that update and aren't seeing improvements, please let me know and we can look deeper into your setup once more.
Thanks!

Hey, all.
Just to give a bit more info, the update version for both Google WiFi and Nest WiFi will be 14150.43.80. If you are seeing a different version number when you check in Google Home, you have yet to receive the updated firmware. Let me know if you have any questions about that.
Thanks.

Hi Jeff, any idea when this will become available to my Nest WiFi? No change to my firmware since you posted a week ago.
04-08-2022 09:54 AM
Hi, nestuser51.
The update is going out to users now. They roll the updates out in waves, and everyone will have it before the end of the month. Most likely you'll see it within the next two weeks, hopefully sooner.
Thanks.

Hey, everyone.
I wanted to check in as the rollout is still happening to see if anyone has received it or has seen any changes in their situation. If you have anything to update us on, just drop it here.
Thanks.

I recently purchased a nest router with 2 points and am having the same issue as everyone else. I can no longer use the wireless feature on my printer due to it only connecting to 2.4. The printer and whatever device I am using has to be on the same channel in order for it to work. Strangely enough my the only device that can print wirelessly is my ipad. Non of the pixels can print (everyone in my house has a pixel). strange that an apple product works better with a google product than google products do. My google security cameras frequently go offline due to wife changes. I really need to be able to control which wifi channel my devices are connect to. I never had any of these issues with my TPLINK router.
07-13-2022 07:57 AM
Of course. Why in the world would they allow you to go into your own network and select channels are that are less crowded and more reliable than the auto-select mess they have created. That's just silly. Never mind they know exactly what they're doing and could have addressed this issue already, but they would rather ignore it. I have a 3 mesh point system that are all locked into an extremely crowded channel that causes connectivity issues that I never had until I switched to Google's mess and I can't do anything about it because some idiot decided you shouldn't be able to change your wifi channel.

Just got google nest router and one point and have had non stop issues with my Sonos system. My software version is 14150.43.81. Advice from Sonos to fix the issue is change my wifi to channel 1 or 11. How can I address this issue to avoid my speakers becoming expensive paperweights?
12-19-2022 01:39 PM
I'm having the same issues as Sid81. Sonos suggested "calling google and asking them to change 1 or 6" since my Sonos is set to channel 11 (with no way to change that). I'd love to find a solution to this because both systems are expensive.
12-20-2022 11:47 AM
I have since hardwired one on of my Sonos speakers. This seems to have provided a workaround for the issue, but I would love to be able to operate all my speakers wirelessly in the future if any developments are made to google nest compatibility.
12-20-2022 11:50 AM
That was one suggestion from the Sonos team for me as well. However that's not an option for how my whole home is set up. It's frustrating that this is "the solution" - as it seems to be an update that Google did that has disrupted the service to Sonos.
12-22-2022 09:40 AM
Hey Apap_C,
I can see how that would be a frustrating workaround for you to go through. Unfortunately it's looking like the recommended steps. However, I can relay your situation to our internal teams as a form of feedback so they can take a look at this and we can hopefully find better ways of dealing with these sorts of roadblocks. I'll take care of that right now for you.
Thanks,
Jeff

Thank you Jeff,
Yes it hardly seems a solution to ask people to re-arrange their entire homes to solve something that has just recently started to happen. There's clearly some issue with the two systems speaking to one another that should be solved, so it works seamlessly as before.
01-03-2023 10:24 AM
Hopefully we can see things improve on that front, Apap_C. Aside from submitting that to our teams, is there anything else I can do for you?
Thanks,
Jeff

Also have this issue with Sonos where I have x3 different devices around the home.
In addition to this I have another new issue with Zwift and the Zwift companion not being on the same channel and syncing together.
If I had know I would be having these issues, I would not have bought the Nest system and I think it is a key fault which needs to be fixed (and for people to be aware of!).
02-11-2023 10:27 AM
I'm having the same problem reported here, still no solution.
02-11-2023 10:30 AM
Jeff,
Would it be very difficult to implement a simple Automatic Channel or Manual Channel button ??
03-15-2023 03:47 PM
Hey everyone,
I can't speak to how difficult it would be to implement a channel select feature, but I can pass that feedback along to our teams that it's an option that has been requested by our community. I'll go ahead and send that through now.
Aside from passing the request on to our internal teams, is there anything else I can help with on this?
Thanks,
Jeff

I'm having the same issue. Please just let us pick our own channels in an advanced hidden setting somewhere!
03-31-2023 11:03 AM
Same issues. Also I live in an apartment complex and my router is using channel 149. A number of other units are also using 149 and there are open channels which I can see on my RF-Explorer but it is so frustrating that I cannot change the channels on my google nest router. Please guys, update the app so that we can manually fix what the router clearly cannot fix. I have the router and a mesh point. Thanks in advance.
05-12-2023 09:29 AM
Please let us pick channels
07-01-2023 08:39 PM
Y'all fixing to get sued. We must have access to our own bought and paid for devices! This is ridiculous.
