Chromecast devices think they are on a different network

I have been using Google Wifi Pro for about 18 months.  I have 5 Chromecast devices and they were all visible from the cast on YouTube.  Starting in April 2024, some Chromecast devices thought they are on a different network from my Android phone.  Therefore, they were not visible on my cast selection in YouTube.  I restarted the Google Wifi Pro and it solved the problem.  However, the problem came back a day or two later.  Does anyone know what went wrong and how to solve this?

Google Wifi Pro software version: 3.73.406133

I am getting this exact same issue! I've done absolutely everything besides restarting my network which I really don't want to do as it'll be a pain to set everything back up. There's 1 thing I know that's changed on my network, and that's the all my Google nest routers have had an update to 3.73.406133 from version 1.x

I honestly would not be surprised if this is why.

Hey MattVon

Don't worry! I can assist you , Here are some troubleshooting steps that might help:

  • Make sure all your Chromecast devices and your Android phone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, the same network name and password.
  • Double-check for any guest networks or separate bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) on your Google Wifi Pro.
  • Reboot your Chromecast devices. Unplug the power cable, wait a few seconds, and then plug it back in. Restart your phone as well.
  • Ensure you have the latest versions of the YouTube app and the Google Home app on your phone. Additionally, check if there are any firmware updates available for your Chromecast devices.

Additional help: Guest Wi-Fi is a separate network just for your guests. Guests will be able to get online and use shared devices you choose, like a Chromecast.

Best regards,

Daniel

Thank you for your suggestive actions, unfortunately none of them worked for me. Just to clarify, nothing changed apart from the WiFi Pro routers getting the latest update automatically.

I finished my last test this evening, which failed. Factory resetting the chroemcast and the Nest Pro did not solve my issue.

However, not all hope is lost as I accidently fixed it! How? I renamed my chroemcast device, since renaming the chroemcast after multiple factory resets, it can now connect to my WiFi and all my devices can see it.

Thank you for keeping me updated. In this case you can Monitor the situation,  Keep an eye on your chromecast to see if the issue reoccurs. If it does, you might need to try some of the troubleshooting steps.

Let me know how it goes,

Daniel
