Connectivity issues

I have a Google home nest pro with two Wi-Fi points. It should be more than enough to cover my home sufficiently.

When I run the Google home Wi-Fi test it always tells me that I have blazing fast connections. However many of my devices time out fairly regularly. It doesn't seem as though the tests match the actual.

The only troubleshooting steps I seem to locate are reset the modem and I've done that numerous times but the connections are just still just not what I would expect. are there any other ways to test the connection setup or ways to optimize my mesh network?

Hi @Warrenawade,

Thanks for reaching out. Sorry to hear you're having slow performance with your Nest Wifi Pro.  Can you tell me How far are your Nest Wifi points from the main router? What is your internet plan's download speed, and what speeds are you currently getting through Wi-Fi?

There can be several factors affecting Wi-Fi performance. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  • Optimize Point Placement: Nest Wifi points should be positioned within 1,500 square feet of the main router for optimal performance.
  • Speed test: Perform a speed test directly connected to your modem using a computer. This will help determine if the slowness originates from your internet service provider or your Wi-Fi network.
  • Check cables and ports: Make sure the cables are in good condition and are connected correctly
  • Change DNS: Changing the DNS service allows you to improve internet speed
  • Power Cycle Devices: Power cycle your Nest Wifi router and points by unplugging them for 30 seconds, then plugging them back in.

You can see this information: Troubleshoot slow Wi-Fi. To know more about this problem and how to solve it. Please keep me updated on how it goes.

Cheers,

Jonathan
