Disabling 5GHz on Mesh - more please

Dear Mr. Google,

I understand the common response to why there's no need to disable 5 GHz. But let me give you an example: My newbord uses an Owlet Sock 3, which can only connect via 2.4 GHz. To connect it, I have to switch my router over to 2.4 GHz, thereby disabling my mesh system, connect the device then re-connect the mesh. Very annoying and time consuming. I have had to do this for any smart devices that are 2.4 GHz only - this includes virtually every non-Google lightbulb, smart plug etc I have around the house.

There must be a simple solution to this.

Unfortunately, some poorly designed devices like the one you have don't seem to handle Wi-Fi networks which use the same network name for all the Wi-Fi bands (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, 6 GHz) very well. Typically, the most common workaround for this is to add a 2.4 GHz only access point to your setup, perhaps repurposing an old router just for this purpose. Alternatively, if this is critical to you or you have lots of these types of devices, you would need to consider a different Wi-Fi solution than Nest Wifi as unfortunately Google haven't made any announcements or feature changes to make working with these poorly designed 2.4 GHz only devices easier.

Appreciate it's not the answer you want to hear, but it is the reality unfortunately. You're welcome to also directly send this feedback directly to Google if you'd like.
