Home network troubleshooting
Description of issue:
I purchased a two-pack of Nest Wi-fi routers in early 2021 and installed them as one router and one access point to extend my ISP wi-fi coverage in my home. Everything was easy to set up and worked fine for about a year. The only issue was needing to connect to the network where the printers were connected to be able to print. I considered creating a trust between the two networks to eliminate the need to connect to a specific network, but I never did it.
After about a year, the speed on the Nest network would drop intermittently to almost nothing, causing anything connected to it to buffer horribly or just drop internet connectivity. I tried some simple troubleshooting but didn't have much luck. The Home app would show good speed and good mesh connections. Ultimately we stopped connecting to the Nest network, and I'd like to see if I can get things running smoothly again.
Should I connect the two networks with a trust?
Should I reset my Nest routers and start over?
Thanks for any help!

Sounds like ypu run double NAT. Your ISP modem should be put in bypass mode / bridge mode to avoid double NAT. That includes disabling Wi-Fi on your ISP equipment.
If your printer must be wired by ethernet, do it like the diagram shows here:

Thanks to you both. I have not changed my ISP router to bridge mode. I will do this next week and report back here. Thank you for the help!
