Factory Reset on Google Nest PRO

Hi -- Simplisafe installed my initial Google Nest Pro as part of my security install.  It worked for a while, but then something happened to the new WIFI network the installers created as part of the install.  I pulled the plug on all the 3 Google Nest Pro devices and did a factory reset.  I have a very strong wifi signal and several ethernet ports throughout the house.  Here's where I'm at - (1) I reset my google home app to my new home location. (2) there are no other locations associated with my Google Home account (3) I'm listed as an Admin in the Google Home App.  (4) I'm able to initially connect to the Google Nest Pro and the Google Home App recognizes the device after scanning the symbol on the bottom of the Google Nest unit. (5) I connect the ethernet cable and it asks me for a network Name. (6) I put in the network name and it tried to configure...  In the end I get a lack of permissions error and the installation of the device ultimately fails.  What am I doing wrong - some searches indicate that only a professional can install the Google Nest Pro, but that can't be right.. they sell them at Costco...

Hi @hunterto2007,

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to know you're experiencing inconveniences while setting up your Google Nest Wifi Pro routers after the factory reset, and I appreciate you providing details of the troubleshooting steps you've taken. I'm happy to help.

Before troubleshooting your devices, please provide the information requested below:

  1. Did you factory reset and remove your Google Nest Wifi Pro routers from the Google Home app?
  2. In the article above, you can also find the steps to factory reset your Google Nest Wifi Pro routers using the reset button, as this is necessary after you reset and remove them from the app.
  3. What's the light color on your Google Nest Wifi Pro routers?
  4. What error message are you receiving during the setup?
  5. Did you use an iOS device?
    • If yes, make sure you have turned on Local Network access on your iOS device.
  6. Do you have any switches in your network setup?

In the meantime, I recommend visiting the article Troubleshoot Google Nest Wifi setup issues.

Please keep me posted.

Regards,

Anders
