Are you using an iOS device for the setup? Then see:

Thanks for the prompt response olavrb.
I am using my google pixel 6 phone to perform the setup.
One additional piece of information, the below message did come up in the middle of the setup, (I got this device via an online shop)
"The nest wifi point was manufactured for a different country, and may not be compatible with your WiFi network."
Is this abnormal for adding a nest wifi point to an existing 1st gen google wifi mesh?
Thanks Again!

That likely means your existing unit(s) is made for a different region/country than your new unit(s).
Mixing regions is not supported, it's also mentioned in the setup guide:
To see what region a unit is made for, go to "<its local IP address>/api/v1/status" in a web browser. Example for my primary:
Both of mine says "countrycode: nordic".
If your new unit has ethernet ports, connect a PC to it's LAN port and go to whatever gateway IP it gives you, then you'll be able to see what region it's made for, even without setting it up.

Got it - thanks again.
My old setup got from US so I thought I can just get another one via online shop.
Anyway I can tell the region for my nest wifi point (as there is no eithernet ports)
Thanks.

I do. My question is given my existing devices are under "us" region. How can I tell the new device I am getting is also under region us? Can I assume getting from US Amazon is always us region?

Hey samlaiws,
Are you buying the product brand new from Amazon? With new sales, products shipping from US warehouses will be set for the US region. If you're buying used, you would want to ask the seller first if they can guarantee that they are US region devices.
Thanks,
Jeff

Sounds like it is safer to get brand new. My next Question is if I am getting a nest router, will my 3 existing 1st gen device working as a point / extension? Thx

Hey samlaiws,
Your existing points will work with a new router as long as it's the Google WiFi or Nest WiFi router. If it's the Nest WiFi Pro, then you would need other Nest WiFi Pro points to use as mesh points. Google WiFi and Nest WiFi are compatible with one another, but neither is compatible with the newer Nest WiFi Pro.
Thanks,
Jeff

Thanks for checking. If I set my new nest router with the same network id and password. Does all existing devices able to reconize it automatically?
