GbE uplinks????

Drwg
Community Member

Really struggling to understand the decision to go with 1GbE uplinks on the WiFi Pro. Should have been minimum 2.5 or even 10Gbps these days given the costs involved.

I appreciate most home users won't push this but there is absolutely no point in WiFi 6e pushing 5Gbps+ when the APs are limited to 1Gbps uplinks - unless of course you are going to back haul all you APs back to your modem, even then will still be limited to 1Gbps.

Yes WiFi 6 may help pushing data around the house but most traffic is client end point to internet which will be throttled by the uplinks.

My internet provider will be pushing 10Gbps within a year for consumers.

Thoughts?

Hi @Drwg

I think it should be enough for the consumer level at this time.
If you are getting 10Gbps at home sounds fantastic, but for 99% of the users, they won't even reach 1Gbps.
When you need 10Gbps, you should not be looking into a Google Nest WiFi solution but go more prosumer like Ubiquity/Zyxel, etc.

And saving a few cents on one device isn't much, but when you sell over 100.000 units, it is a pretty neat saving. 😉

Just my two cents. 😎
