Goggle Nest Wi-Fi with Spectrum

Ok, I see all kinds of information.  I just changed my ISP with Spectrum and now have 500mb.  I am using Spectrum's router, but I want to use my new Linksys Hydra Pro 6E router.

Before I had Frontier, and that was a combined modem / router (FiOS G11000) and my Goggle Nest Wifi worked with no issues.

So I'm I to understand that the Goggle Nest router as part of the Google Nest Wi-fi would replace my new Linksys Hydra Pro 6E router?  Why can't I simply use it.  So I connected the ethernet cable from the goggle router to port one of my Linksys router.  Set up goes well, until I connect the two points.  They get added, but during the message "Adding WiFi point to your Wi-Fi network", I get the following error, "Something went wrong... Please ensure you are connected to the internet and try again"

Someone with this knowledge please assist and I am just trying to extend my signal throughout the house, my main purpose for purchasing the mess.  Thank you.

Hi nebstechsvc,

That certainly isn’t the experience we want you to have, and we apologize for the delay. Kindly answer these questions to narrow things down:

  • Are you using a modem/router combo from your Internet Service Provider (ISP)?
  • What device are you using to set up your network (iOS or Android)? Do you have the Internet from your modem?
  • Does the child point broadcast the setup Service Set IDentifier (SSID) or network name located at the bottom of the device?
  • Does the Google Wifi point in question broadcast a setup SSID? You can check by going through your phone’s list of Wi-Fi networks.
  • Did you try setting up your Google Wifi point wirelessly or through a wired connection?
  • What’s the color of the status lights on the other router and points that were set up successfully?
  • How far is the point from the main Google Wifi router?
  • Did you get any messages on the Google Home app during setup?
  • Do you have any switches on your network?

In the meantime, you can do a sequential reboot of your entire network and see if that helps, or please perform a 2-minute power cycle on your entire network to re-establish the connection on your connected devices. Here's how:

  1. Disconnect the power from the modem.
  2. Disconnect the Ethernet cable and power cord from the parent point.
  3. Disconnect the power cord from the child points.
  4. Leave everything unplugged for 2 minutes.
  5. Connect the power cord to the modem then to your router and points.

Keep us posted.

Best,
