So, I have been creeping these forums and support pages for the last 2 years. I invested quite a large chunk of money (to me anyway) in outfitting my home with the whole line of Google smart home products. From the doorbell to the wifi system and down to the speakers.
From day one the wifi system brought my 1gig connection to an almost screeching halt. My $300 doorbell completely died after only one year. I have given Google PLENTY of time to work out firmware issues and bugs to at least give me usable internet speeds.
Unfortunately, this still has not happened. I get better speeds with a bottom of the food chain, ISP provided cheapo router. I no longer have a video doorbell, both of my smart displays (standard and hub max) have issues. Hub Max randomly developed lines through the screen, standard started running painfully slow, doesn’t always respond and causes network issues/assistant freezing/lagging.
My thermostat has probably been the least annoying as it’s only required extensive troubleshooting about 4 times.
It’s finally the end of the road for me. Today I will begin removing every Google/Nest product from my home. I will throw every piece in the trash and never look back. This has been a completely unacceptable and downright laughable experience considering the behemoth that is Google …
Google should have began issuing refunds for every smart device they have pushed out their doors and sold to schmucks like me.
I am sick of the canned “tech support” responses that provide absolutely no resolution to ANY of the problems I have seen people post. I will never again, as long as I live, buy another product from Google. My $50 NightOwl doorbell from Walmart is 6 years old and still functions like it did the day I bought it … while my 1 year old $300 Google doorbell has already kicked the can.
Google, you seriously need to get off your sorry a$$ and start remedying the absolute disaster you have created by either fixing your products or completely discontinuing the entire line. Then, refund every person who has been foolish enough to buy this garbage.
I am staring at my Google mesh system right now and questioning how in gods name this could have been out for so long and still function so poorly that I am willing to literally throw it in the trash and replace it with a $20 router because I get BETTER SPPED AND PERFORMANCE from it.
This is NOT ok.
