Google Nest Router Ethernet Port Not Working - Wired Devices Affected

LukeWarmSoup

Hello Google Nest Community,

I am experiencing the exact same issue as a previous user @Mabio described in a post from September 16, 2022. My Google Nest router's Ethernet port is not functioning for wired devices, even though the Wi-Fi connectivity works perfectly fine.

I've tried connecting multiple wired devices (e.g., computer, Phillips Hue Bridge) to the Ethernet port, but none of them are able to establish a connection. I've also tried different Ethernet cables to rule out cable issues. I have also reset the network multiple times. The Wi-Fi, however, continues to work without any problems for all my wireless devices.

This is extremely frustrating as it limits the functionality of my network and prevents me from using wired connections for devices that require them, or where a wired connection is preferred for stability and speed.

Given that many other users experienced this precise problem, I am concerned that this may be a known or recurring issue with the Google Nest router hardware or a software update affecting the Ethernet port functionality.

Could you please provide some guidance on troubleshooting this issue? Specifically, I'd like to know:

* Are there any known firmware bugs or updates that could be causing this?

* Are there any specific diagnostic steps I can take to identify the root cause?

* What are my options for repair or replacement if this is indeed a hardware failure?

Any assistance or advice from Google Nest support or other community members who have encountered and resolved this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Update: I troubleshot this by testing the LAN port without the use of a switch and all the individual wired devices worked well without it.

I then got a new switch and tested all of my wired connections using a new switch. The new switch solved my issue.
