Google Nest Wi fi and BT Smarthub 2

Hi guys, i am hoping that you can help. I currently have BT Fibre 1 with a Smarthub 2 and am thinking of purchasing Google Wifi Nest Router and an additional point to extend the wifi coverage in the home. I understand from some basic research that the Smarthub and the Nest Router are basically incompatible.

Is anyone able to give me step by step guide (n very simple terms) as to what I would have to do? It appears I would have to buy a normal modem router to replace the Smarthub and then connect the Google Wifi Nest Router to the modem. Is there a particular modem that I would need for this? I do not want to spend a lot given the outlay for the Nest Router itself. Thanks very much for your help!

Ask your ISP what's needed to be able to run your own 3rd party router.

Seems like you might have to buy a modem:

But based on some quick looking it'a not conclusive, I'd say.

Your ISP should know.
