Need recommendations for a modem that works well with Google Nest Wifi please!
My ISP is Zen who provide me with a Fritzbox 7530 router but do not support using it in bridge mode. I did find some instructions of how to get around this and used those to set up my Google Nest WiFi 9 months ago, but I have a lot of dropped connections and often have to restart equipment. Today have had to to factory resets on all my equipment to get internet access back. I tried to set up the PPoE passthrough again today but the Fritzbox blocked the internet so I think I am going to give up and buy my own modem.
Would love to know what set ups people have that are stable - I have a router and two extra points but looking to add another point, so 4 units in total.
Otherwise if anyone has successfully bridged a Fritzbox and kept it stable I'd love to know what you did!

There doesn't seem to be a lot of alternatives when it comes to DSL (ADSL, VDSL) only modems out there, as discussed in this Reddit thread for instance:
So probably look for a modem + router combo that can be bridged.

Thanks very much - yes I think I need to get a modem/router but the specs usually don’t say if they can be bridged so was hoping I’d find someone here with a set up that works well before I buy something and find out it can’t he put into bridge.
the link you sent me has some suggestions so thank you that’s very helpful

Sadly not - still trying to find a way to either bridge the fritzbox and set up Nest or need to but a new modem that definitely works with Nest. So far having an expensive time buying bits of kit that don’t work.

Hi jingo,
Thanks for getting back to us. Generally, most modems are compatible with the Google Nest Wifi, however, to avoid double NAT issues, we recommend having modem/router combo devices to be set in bridge mode to avoid that issue. I suggest reaching out to FRITZ!Box support so they can help you set their device to bridge mode.
Keep us posted.
Best,
Mel
