"wifi is paused on this device" How to unpause?

My laptop, which I leave running 24/7, keeps popping up the message "wifi is paused on this device". An internet search says that I need to go to the Google Home app on my phone and select wifi, to start fixing this.  The Google Home app on my phone does not have any buttons anywhere that says "wifi". How am I supposed to stop this stupid pausing? Important info: there are only 2 people in my house, and my husband & I are both over 40. We did not set up a pause routine and we don't want one. And no my husband didn't do it to mess with me; he knows my laptop is running important home server stuff.

For the "wifi is paused on this device" part:

  • You say you use your laptop as a home server, have you configured any advanved networking on it? Firewall, DHCP, static IP on the device itself rather than using Nest Wifi built in DHCP reservation.

For the "Wi-Fi icon is missing in the Google Home app" part:

Nest Wi-Fi will be tied to the Google account that set it up originally. So one can't download the Google Home app while being connected to Nest Wifi Wi-Fi, log in with any Google account, and be able to manage Nest Wifi.

In Google Home you create a home, then devices are added to it. One can also add multiple managers to the home, they'll all be able to manage the devices in it. More info:

You not being able to see the Wi-Fi icon might be due to you using the wrong Google account, or that you're facing a problem multiple others have previously: The Wi-Fi icon just disappears. The quickest fix for either problem is to factory reset all Nest Wifi pucks using the physical button ( https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/6246619?hl=en ) and set up the network from scratch ( https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9548301?hl=en ). If you reuse the network name (SSID) and password, your devices should reconnect automagically.

Note that I wrote "Nest Wifi" while typing this reply, but if it's Google Wifi you have it will be all the same.

I don't work for Google.

You are absolutely correct!!! I usually handle all the google stuff for the house, and I checked on both of my accounts, but when you said that--I remembered that my husband was the one who set up the mesh system, not me. Checked his phone/account, found the wifi button, got everything all sorted. Thank you very much!!!
