Google Nest Wifi with Ubiquiti Nanostation Loco M2

I have a Google Nest Wifi Router with 3 wireless Access points, which work great (IP Address family of 192.186.56.x).  I have a metal barn which I cannot get a wireless signal to due to the metal outside.   I have configured a Ubiquiti Nanostation Loco M2 (192.168.10.x) that is attached to the outside of the barn to catch the wireless signal and then uses a wired connection to go into the barn and to an old wireless router (Nighthawk).  That works fine, and allows me to have a Google Max speaker in my barn so I can play music while working.  However, I want to add a POE turret camera to the outside of the barn so I can keep an eye on things from my house.  This rather expensive camera was purchased a few years ago and only provides access to see footage if the camera is on the same network.

So, I purchased another Google Nest Router and planned on putting it out in the barn replacing my Nighthawk.  I thought if I made it an access point, it should work fine.  However, my first attempt at this did not pan out.  I configured it wirelessly as an access point and then plugged it into the same wired network in the barn as my Nighthawk.  That failed with the router blinking a yellow color.

I am now going to try it again changing a few things.  First, I changed the Nanostation's IP to be on 192.168.56.x network, so I can now see and manage that device from inside my house.  Second, I am going to setup my second Google Nest Router using the wired port and hoping it picks up the same network as the other access points.

Question - if I have the router plugged in, does it use that to find the network or does it still use the wireless mesh system to find  the main router?

Question 2 - Will this work and do you see any issues?

Hi Tonyrbianco,

Thank you for posting. I'm sorry that the setup didn't work the first time.

There is a good article to review on how to set up and hardwired WiFi points and other devices. Also, there is another article on how to use Nest WiFi wireless extenders.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Byron

Thanks, but these didn't really answer my question.

My configuration is this...Modem -> Google Nest Router #1 -> Ubiquiti Nanostation M2 Loco (via wireless connection) -> Google Nest Router #2 (via WAN port hardwired connection) -> security camera POE Switch (via LAN port hardwired connection) -> POE security camera (via hardwired connection)

My question is will the Google Nest Router #2 work in this spot to get a network connection through the Nanostation back to my wireless network?

Thanks!
